Abstract

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that affects millions of people worldwide, including professional athletes. Despite the historical stigma surrounding the condition, numerous prominent athletes have achieved elite-level careers, challenging stereotypes about its limitations. This paper explores the relationship between epilepsy and sport, focusing on successful athletes diagnosed with epilepsy and the impact of the condition on their careers. It also analyzes the role of sports management in creating an inclusive environment by identifying barriers, opportunities, and strategies for improving managerial practice. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the study offers concrete guidelines for sports institutions, educational systems, and public policy, with particular emphasis on comparative recommendations for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. From a management perspective, the research examines how sports programs can be designed, organized, and monitored to ensure that they are inclusive, safe, and sustainable. A managerial approach enables structured risk and resource management, thereby creating a sustainable, long-term support system for people with epilepsy in sport.
